Chewing mints/gum or anything sour may help to keep you awake! Most people try caffeine! It does certainly help, but it wears off after a while. So, if you feel really tired, you can try grabbing a cup of coffee on the way to your lecture, and see if that helps! It may help you stay awake for the lecture, but a few hours later, you may find yourself being even more tired than before! But hey, it's the lecture that's important, right? :)

I am together with my girlfriend since almost 2 years. I really love her but I started to doubt on her a little. She never kept secrets from me before, I mean she told me every little detail whatever she did. But lately she keeps borrowing money from me and not telling me why. Is it because i'm sensitive or a daydreamer?

I'm a sensitive teenager and i felt like i was bipolar because i would be sad over things i would have seen or heard. Such as going to a funeral of someone i wouldn't know much but it's like i put myself in their shoes and i become sad like i was actually them. Or a sad song or a song about somebodies life about their struggles especially rap has made me sad before it hasn't made me depressed though but i don't feel as active, or as excited, happy, and i just like sitting there like whatever it was i was thinking of had happened to me even though it hasn't or even come close. No song has made me happy, angry, or anything else just sad but not depressed. I think it makes me daydream because i don't realize what things are going on in my personal life when my mood changes to these subjects, songs and unfortunate events of someone i do or do not know.

Playstation 3 Disk Read Help?

I know a lot of people have had similar problems, but im needed a good answer on exactly what to do. My PS3 seems to hate reading certain discs of mine, like Darksiders or Modern Warfare 2, but it reads games like Infamous 2 and COD: Black Ops just fine, I always end up having to put a certain game in so my PS3 will read it, THEN I can put in whatever game I want (like MW2) and it finally reads it just fine. Something stuck in the back of my throat...?

I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but for 2 days now i've had this horrible sensation of something being stuck in the back of my throat. I thought it was after I had eaten an egg, since i kind of feel as though i can still taste the smell of egg. it also brought on nasal discomfort and head pain. its odd. I tried swallowing different types of food to get rid of it, liquid, yoghurt, rough textured food. No you are not eating too much! You're 17 and at a slim weight so just eat when your hungry and enjoy eating what you want while your young and have a faster metabolism. As long as you have a balanced diet and eat healthy foods as well as junk then you're fine just don't worry about it :)

If she is well accepting of finger foods, then I would just start giving her some small portions of what the rest of the family eats. BUT make sure you are not giving her highly spiced, salted or processed foods. Good finger foods are things like pasta (plain macaroni or little strands of speghetti), small pieces of cheese, bread, pieces of cooked sweet potato, steamed fish, kiddies also love plain cheerios!

Why are middle schools and high schools so obsessed with teaching about WW2 and the Holocaust?

I know it's important but it's like all we ever learned about from 6-12 grade. In history class we would get through all the book up to WWII by about early March and no joke, the rest of the unit would be spent on WWII and we never got to Korea, Vietnam, the hippies, Reagan, Clinton and 9/11 at all. We read five different about the Holocaust in reading classes (Number the Stars, Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Diary of Anne Frank, Night and Schindler's List) but we only read one of Shakespeare's plays (MacBeth). I took a religious studies class and when we got to Judaism all they talked about was the Holocaust like no other part of their history mattered. Is this just my school or it all schools? No wonder kids don't know any history we only focus on one part of it!

Unemployment Question?!?

So here is the story. I have an older sister who has been battling depression for a long time. I got a phone call to get the hospital back in Sept 2010 to get to the hospital ASAP that my sister hurt herself. I was out of the office on my lunch break. I immediately headed there. What was I suppose to do? I had an emergency. So while at the hospital I emailed my temp agency that I had a family emergency. The email failed to send because of a wrong email address so I forwarded the email to the company boss that the temp agency had me working for immediately that same day. So I thought all was well because they didn't call or email me back yelling. Well the next day I sent another email to DHL the company I was working for through the temp agency asking for a few days off because I was overwhelmed with what was going on & needed to be with family. That was 9/22 I sent the second email. Needless to say they called me back & fired me. So they told unemployment I had quit on 9/22 but I sent unemployment office both emails with the date, time, subject, & body of the email.What does everyone think? Will I have to keep fighting or will Unemployment see that I was fired unjustly & the company lied? I can't believe the company would lie like that to avoid paying me unemployment. I am just now filing too because I had no idea I could get unemployment for being fired. A friend actually told me to file! So that's why I am just now filing for it incase that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did i eat well today, trying to eat healthy..NOT DIET!!?

what you ate is ok... but the calories are a little high for the amount of food you had. 1550 is not a lot but you did not have all that much amount wise of food. and you should eat veggies for a balanced diet. You have a lot of yoghurt which could be replaced with something more nutritional. If you dont like veggies put a little sauce on it to cover the taste. to be a healthy weight you should be a little closer to 140 (120 is low 140 is target and 160 is high). But you are not fat at all.

Is this the way to go with muscle building?

Hi, this last week i've joined the gym and been heavily researching on the Sport, the Diets etc and i think ive got a solid plan but i want confirmation so that it works. Im an 18 Year old guy standing at 6ft 5 (195cm) and weigh ~86kg, im looking to put on muscle without adding too much fat (i know its not gonna be no fat but minimal would be best so i dont have to cut as long) Im training 4 days a week as of next week (last week went 3 to introduce myself) doing a split routine and 5x5 training with warmup sets. I've worked out about 4000 calories a day to gain maybe 400 less on rest days depending on how busy I am, but my total exercise is the gym + walking to and from class/work, and work is walking roughly 2-3 hours solid. Ive built up a diet that is pretty clean and ive stuck to it perfectly past week, it includes Oatmeal,LF Yoghurt, Wholemeal Toast, Chicken, Lean Red Meat, Salmon, Brown Rice, Potatoes, large amounts of vegetables, Whey Protein, Skim Milk, Peanut Butter, Avocado's, Bananas, and some Powerade some days while i train. Im fairly confident this is a clean diet and i have split my eating up into 6-7 times daily 3 big meals (BF,Lunch,Din) and 3 smaller meals (pre/post w/o, pre bed, snacks). if i continue with this should i see some lean mass gains? Cheers peeps :) P.S. is it okay to have the occasional cheat meal if im out with friends, so long as i try to keep the fatty foods out etc ill have subway or nandos or sumthing rather than macdonalds which i dont really eat anyway (maccas, hj's are a huge turn off for me)

I agree with Norman Finkelstein when he says that the Holocaust is a "money-making machine" or "extortion racket" for Israel because the word 'Holocaust' itself was invented by the very same people to be used as a trademark. But the fact that he was a child of "Holocaust survivors" makes him have that bias of believing that his family were really exterminated in gas chambers. I think being fake is self fulfilling yourself with something that you've done but wasn't done correct in some way it's not the same feeling as being real and getting something done with your real self and get a more satisfactory feeling. No, you are not the Step-Mom from hell . But you have to remember she is trying to get use to you, & she probably isnt used to her mom telling her to go away, and isnt use to being yelled at. Maybe you're kids are used to it and thats why your daughter left you alone. But your step-daughter probably isnt , and she was trying to spend time with you when you were making the cake, and was really hurt when you yelled at her, over something she didnt intend to do. Just remember your step-kids arent used to your methods of parenting, just give them time. && your husband is probably mostly mad because his daughter cried, just explain that you didnt want her to cry, you were just annoyed about the cake falling, and apoligize to the step-daughter . A psychiatrist goes to med school, but a psychologist goes to graduate school instead, and you must major in psychology to go to grad school in psychology. i have a friend who weigh 68kg and is 165cm. she's now aged 16 and since your still 14 you can grow a few more centimetres. Of course you will have to lose some of your weigh so that it doesnt look so bad. Uhmm.. stop eating fried food & junk food. You can eat fruits but not mixing salad into the fruit dishes. Don't take a full container of crackers but take a few pieces instead. Try searching through the internet, they will tell you lots of losing weight. & no, no more yogurt or food that contains high calories. it doesnt even help with burning your calories. I am considering studying electrical engineering at uni but I'm not sure if its the subject for me. My 17 month old is still having 2 bottles of cows milk a day. One in the morning before his breakfast and one at night just before bed. He has about 150ml in the morning and 260ml at night. At 2 years old their appetite is at it's strongest because they are still growing so much. A 2 year old can easily out-eat a 3 year old. So long as they're healthy foods, feed your son when he asks. I've sat and watched my daughter eat more than me for dinner at that age (she ate 1 1/2 chicken breasts, plus all the sides that go with it), and she maintained a normal healthy weight.

Does anyone else get this feeling?

Nobody's my friend. Every time I log into Facebook and I see pics of people having a good time with their friends, girls looking beautiful and nice guys with their arms around their shoulders, I think to myself, "I'm not welcome with them." The people in those photos do not hold me in the same regard as they do for others around them. Even if they show me kindness, it's really only at a superficial level. They oftentimes don't answer my messages, and I usually assume it's because they're not interested in talking to me. Every time I see a girl I find attractive, I think to myself, "She's not going to like me." I do my best to be sociable - I say "hi" in the halls, I have conversations about subjects of mutual interest (usually), I hang out with people, etc. But I still get this sense that I'm not really "one of them." I feel as if I don't matter. I'm just a presence. I'm just "there."

Sadly it has to do with involvement. When we were involved in Vietnam, we barely paid attention to Pol Pot and his army of children slaughtering individuals either. I usually have a ham sandwich on multigrain bread with yoghurt. but it doesn't seem to be doing much just keeping my weight the same. I am active, I go for morning runs/walks for a couple of kms. Why do people think Hitler was an idiot simply because he was insane?

No doubt he was one of the most evil men in existence: insane, cruel, paranoid. I just don't understand how people can deny that he was actually a very intelligent leader. Don't stress about it... I had an eating disorder too.... and when I was recovering I was grazing a lot on small little things throughout the day.... over time, it did cause me to put on about 10 pounds. So don't fall into this trap. I think you should try to eat your 3 square meals a day. I would def. throw more veggies into your diet and drink tons of water! Stay busy girl! It makes things so much easier. I'm glad to hear you're recovering! Stay strong! :)

If you can add some protein in you dinner which is good, i mean real meat, because your diet is not bad, but i dont see any real meat in , you just have few ham in your lunch. Try to add some hard boil eggs or chicken breast in breakfast and dinner. an boil egg is about 70 cals only, 3oz chicken breast is about 120 cals (skinless).

You may have just recited my life exactly! My dad got transferred to out of the country (from USA to greenland) and i have no clue what to do! He never comes home and my mom used to be a teacher but now she has to work in a factory! I have 3 jobs to try to keep a steady in come and i cant relate to anyone here cause its a different culture! I'm a former Vegetarian.. for starters, Vegetarians don't eat tuna or any kind of seafood. So stop eating that. Second, you need to fill up with protein and iron. I did my best to do this when I was a Vegetarian and it was a struggle. You need to eat more veggies and fruits. Losing weight for a phone is stupid, too.

Depends how much you weigh now. Its really difficult to say without knowing your body type ect... I imagine 2kgs and then a bit more but more slowly (more than a week). You would have to do more exercise to lose more weight. And then you would have to adjust your diet. How can I help my depressed friend? Please help it's important!?

So I'm friends with this girl (we talked a lot in school but haven't hung out outside of school) who had suicidal issues (that her parents knew about) a couple years back, and is still super depressed. But the problem is, all she ever does is complain. Why was Ramanujan so stubborn in studying math only?

He would badly fail all the courses except for math alone. In math he would be at the top most level and best in the entire college. Rice crispies are not very healthy, I would choose a whole grain cereal like weetabix or even cheerios are better than rice crispies. Pasta isn't great for you either, try a salad for lunch instead. Dinner sounds ok, make sure it's brown rice though not white rice. Snacks are fine, would be better to have an apple/fruit instead of the snack a jacks. Exercise sounds good!

This is an interesting question. Oddly enough, I can relate. When I was growing up I too was picked on by black people. They didn't like the way I talked or made fun of the way I dressed and a whole host of other things and I was very resentful. I grew up not wanting to be around them at all. And their absence was perfectly fine by me. My school was all white, my neighborhood was all white as well as my church until my later years. One day when I was at college, some white people started treating me funny as well and it hit me: Wait! I'm black! I am not being smart or funny. I didn't really know who I was. I didn't learn about black history or any other minority history for that matter really until college. I was mortified. I didn't know where I belonged. I was pretty cold and unsympathetic when I did learn the history because I felt that it had nothing to do with me. I couldn't have been more wrong. By embracing people of all different cultures and walks of life, my world has been so much more full and rich. I said all of this to say that you may not really be racist, just misguided by the way you were treated and yes, I agree. It is a defense mechanism. When you really want to get over it, you will, but not until. It takes time and effort and whether you wish to put in either is really up to you. Just don't let it fester to the point that it gets you into trouble because left unchecked, it will. Good luck.

I have failed my degree please help?

I have been seriously struggling with depression and heart problems over the last 5 years and its finally taken its toll. I have been trying to do this degree in biomedical science over the last 5 years but everything has gone wrong. In my first year I was at bath spa uni doing fine until I started having heart problems and I had to drop out and go back home so I could be closer to my family and doctors. I changed uni's to a closer one but I had to start again. The next 2 years went fine and I got into the last year of uni but then I started to have palpatations and further heart problems again which meant I had to miss out a load of the year being hospital and had to repeat the year. I just done my repeat year and its been the year from hell as this year I have had terrible problems with depression and I struggled really bad with therapy and being anti depressents. I have tried to go on with the degree as hard as I can but I have had no help from any lecturers even though I told them my problems. My personal tutor never replied to any of my emails at all during my dissertation so I have had no help so I have guarenteed a fail on that. My exams and cw were horrible aswell and I about to get my results tomorow and I am pretty sure I have failed the whole lot. My parents havent been understanding at all saying I have wasted 5 years of my life and that if I fail then they wont want anything to do with me anymore and they are ashamed of me. The stupid thing is that I dont care for the subject anymore, I dont a job to do with biology of medical science. Why am i not losing weight?

I am 16 years of age, i weigh 180-190 pounds and i have started ( for the last 2 months ) to cut out on all sorts of fatty foods, i have stopped eating chocolate,cakes and all sorts of rubbish. I have also started to go jogging twice a week for 30 minutes. I have not lost any weight i haven't grown much either i am 5 ft 10. Im really confused because i used to eat chocolates and fatty foods everyday and not i have totally stopped eating those foods and doing excercise and i am still not losing weight. on school days i skip breakfast and lunch, eat a big dinner followed by some fruit or a low fat yoghurt. I do not drink much water, i would normally drink a glass of juice a day. I dont know what to do, my brother starved himself and he lost weight, but i dont want to do that im trying my best i havent eaten a chocolate in months and the scales are telling me otherwise if i dont see results i might have to starve myself like my brother did. On the rare occasion i would eat a takeaway maybe once every 2 weeks... thank you

Hi, I dig graves for a living. The other day I got to work and realised I'd forgotten my shovel. I had a spoon with me that I was going to use to eat my lunch (a strawberry yoghurt) so I used it instead as it was the only "tool" I had. Consequently by the end of the day the hole was only 6 inches deep and my boss said I was a bad employee. My defense was "I only had a spoon. I'd like to see you do better!" Is this a vaguely healthy diet with my underactive thyroid?

It's a little heavy on the carbs. I would suggest switching out a hard boiled egg, turkey, or a cheese stick with some of the fruit and eating more green vegetables (lower in calories and carbs but still have lots of nutrients like fruit). If your thyroid is still low on the medication, you either need a higher dose or you need a different kind of medication. Doctors usually prescribe T4, but a lot of bodies cannot convert T4 to T3. My doctor prescribed me T3 AND T4 (I take Naturthroid) and I feel a lot better on that than I did on just T4 (which was Levothyroxine). Ask your doctor about either taking Cytomel (supplemental T3 along with the T4) or switching to Naturethroid or some other kind of T3, T4 medication. Also, ask for a free T3 blood test, that will show you far more than a T4, TSH blood test. Look at the sites in sources, they will explain more. :)

This is going to sound really counter intuitive, but eat more. When you don't eat enough, your body does everything it can to hold on to as much energy as possible, because it thinks it's going to starve otherwise. It's an issue with metabolism. You should eat at least 1500 calories a day. What your eating might have an effect too. Don't eat porridge in the morning. Too many carbs. Unless you're going to eat breakfast and then go work out right away, opt for a high protein and fat meal, rather than high carb.

You're going to end up gaining weight like that because it's under 1000 calories a day. Your body will go into starvation mode causing your body to retain fat and slow your metabolism. Try to have a diet ranging between 1200-1500 calories a day. Add more fiber, protein, iron and other nutrients while taking a multivitamin too. Depending on your eating and exercise habits before the start, you can probably lose about 5-10 pounds a month.

Have some fruit, yogurt, or cut veggies with it to round out your meal. For snacks, have just sliced apple with peanut butter to cut back on carbs and calories if you are concerned about gaining weight.
